About Us

Southern Maryland “Hawks” Youth Association (SMYA) has served as a pillar in the Charles County community, for the past 21 years, inspiring the pursuit of excellence through teaching and coaching the fundamentals of youth football and cheerleading.  SMYA was officially formed in January 2004 as a non-profit section 501(c)(3) organization.  SMYA is a community based organization that is administered, operated and managed by volunteers (board members and coaches).  The SMYA Board is comprised of a Board of Directors and Executive Body, which consist of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. SMYA sustains its operations solely from volunteers and funding through registration fees, fundraising activities, and sponsorship.  SMYA maintains a good standing with the various vendors within and external of the Charles County boundaries.  We are also current with all Federal and State tax requirements.
